REUNIONS

Twelve Years After (April 28, 1991)

c/o (then) Capt. Junie Boy Latonero, Subic Naval Base, Cavite City

I remember we took different buses to Subic from Lawton and agreed to meet at a restaurant just outside the naval base.  Sa restaurant pa lang nagbaratog na an ralaklakan --- mga nakatolong rounds of beer na yata kami didto.  Dili na makahulat lalo na yada baya sira Engr. Lasay, si Kawe na nagbabakasyon from Sorsogon nan an seaman na nauli pa lang ---  si Mr. Escultura! Anyway, in this picture are Catherine, Veronica, Terry, Patty, Johnny, Raul and Rex (then Terry's BF), with myself and Kawe in the back row.  Our host, Junie Boy, was the one taking this picture.

As it has been 12 years ago, our very reliable lady classmates took care of buying all the ingredients from the palengke and cooked this delicious meal.  Kitaa baya niyo kay mga magayunon talaga an mga classmates naton! Laen ini bola! Kay nano baya kay wara man lang sin nagkaturuluyan sa batch naton? Basi wara pano sin nakapasar na boys sa standard san mga girls naton!

Junie Boy, at that time, already had two kids and impressed me as a very responsible father and husband, not to mention a very good host to us, his classmates.

We spent most of the day at the beach, eating and talking in between gulps of beer and whatever alcoholic drinks we have managed to bring along.  At the end of the day, I remember taking the bus back to Lawton with Kawe.  Both of us were so drunk that I couldn't even remember how I managed to get off at Lawton, leaving Kawe in the bus.  All I can recall now is standing at the bus terminal near the Post Office for a while and wondering (worrying about) how Kawe would also get home.

But as I found out later, everything went well, not only with Kawe, but also with the rest of the group.  Around this time, there were a number of mini-get-togethers --- at Lily's house (two to three times); Joanne's baptism (daughter of Johnny and Jo); Carmina's baptism (our daughter); spending time with Patty and Veronica almost every weekend; drinking sprees with Johnny, Rico, Kawe and Raul. Once, Ting, Pepe and even Manolet joined us in one of our get-togethers at Lily's house.

Twenty-Four Years After (May 10, 2003)

c/o Dr. Pepe Moran, Santolan, Quezon City

Can anybody tell that it's been 24 years since these guys and gals graduated from high school? In this picture are (from left to right) Pepe, Eden, Patty and Ting in the front row.  Lily, Jo (Johnny's wife), Veronica and Catherine are in the back row.

Hey, what's the secret of this batch for staying (looking) young after all those years?  Alcohol (nakikita niyo ina na "agua de pataranta," according to Bitchie, sa lamesa?) and laughter (kitaa niyo si Eden kay dili mapundo an tawa)!!!  And lasting friendships, of course!

While Ting eventually left for the US weeks later, the rest of the group promised to initiate talks among batchmates about the 25th class reunion in 2004.  Sabi daw san mga taga-Sorsogon (led by NAPOCOR's Chief of Finance Susana Haboc and "Mr. PNB" Bitchie Borromeo) sagot daw ninda an reunion basta mag-uruli lang an mga taga-Manila nan hopefully, mga nasa abroad.  Samantalahin!!!!
