Mga classmates!

     Sin-o baya an mahuna na ma-silver anniversary na an batch naton next year (2004)?  After all those years, amo pa man guihapon pag nag-iiristoryahan o nagtuturupar --- payt pa man guihapon an tarawahan; mga mahiligon pa man guihapon sa karantiyawan nan baya man --- mga baratitunon pa man guihapon an mga itsura! 

     Sabi ngani baga didto sa yearbook naton (sayang ngani kay laen ko nadara didi sa US), "We may change with the seasons, but the seasons will not change us!"  Kaya ngani laen kita kaya paggururangon san panahon; an panahon lang an minagurang!

    On a more serious note, tugmang-tugma ina na quotation sa character sadi na batch naton.  Somehow we always managed to survive the most grueling moments of the past many years with our tenacity, courage and diligence.  I am often so moved and amused when I hear stories about each one of you and I am filled with awe and pride when I realize how much of a "fighter" and a "survivor" each one of you has been.

    This character actually stood out even way back in high school.  Nadodomdoman niyo sadto san mga intramurals naton?  First year palan kita, inkakahadlukan na an mga basketball and volleyball teams naton!  Do you remember when we were in 2^nd year and our girls' volleyball team (Vicky Hular, Vivian Latuna, Marichu Manalastas, Jean Abitria, Tessa Dioquino and Susan Haboc) almost pinned down the much-acclaimed senior team that even the college chaplain had to cheer for the seniors kay basi man nanggayud ma-piyerde san mga palaban na sophomores?  And we had a very strong boys' basketball team (led by Celso Jeresano, Carmelo de Jesus, Elmer Diesta, Bernie Donor, Salvatorre Sanchez) that had always been a threat to other teams since freshman year.  You see, we were probably the only batch in the whole history of the high school department of Milagrosa that won the overall championship trophy twice (junior and senior years) and the runner-up trophy in sophomore year!

    And we were not just good in sports only!  Do you remember during the academic contest in our freshman year when after several rounds of elimination, all contestants from sophomore, junior and senior classes exited and the remaining three finalists in the General Information category were all freshies (Gracia Velez, Pepe Moran and myself)? Wara pano sadto malaban sa aton sa turuuman san mga current events (or in lay man's terms, latest chismis)!  And later Jocelynn Lorenzo would join our class and win almost every essay contest in the school, maski sino pa dida an mag-erentra! 

Kaya ngani baya dili ko nanggayud papalagpason ini na pagkakataon na wara man lang mangyari pag nag-25^th class reunion kita.  Ours is a great batch.  We've collectively achieved so much.  We've shared many, many, many wonderful moments together.  That is why, in my own simple way, I am initiating this move to create a web page for our batch that will serve as a venue for all of us to reminisce those special memories, get in touch with classmates, especially those we haven't heard from in a long time, rekindle old friendships, and most of all, rediscover the many reasons to laugh so hard again (until "I again pee in my pants?!?") --- the very reason, I think, why we are able to get through life's challenging moments and the real secret to staying young and looking young for all of us --- the indomitable tigers of the last of the seventies!

And please help pass the word around, especially to those of our classmates that we haven't heard from in a long time.  In these times of great advancements in communication technology, it should be relatively much easier to get in touch with each other.  I am hoping that through this web page we could reconnect with most of our classmates in time for the big reunion next year.
